Bicycle maintenance and repair – crank puller

Do you still remember that you were riding your new car, sprinting excitedly down the street; whether you were sitting at home, thinking about going out for a ride, but found that your car is no longer as good as it used to be, and its brakes don’t work? No matter how sensitive it is, its shifting performance is no longer so smooth. When riding it, there are strange noises everywhere; have you ever been in the wild and found that your car can no longer be ridden, so you have to walk 20 kilometers on the way, pushing the car home. For bicycle users, maintenance and repair of bicycles is inevitable unless you have the money to throw it away and buy a new car every time it breaks down; on the other hand, a well-maintained vehicle , the probability of failure during riding will inevitably decrease. Today we’re going to talk about how to maintain a bicycle crank, and we’ll also introduce you to some practical bicycle repair tools.

Cranks are bicycle accessories, and a loose crank often makes a clicking sound. When checking the crank, first turn the crank to a horizontal position, while pressing down on both sides of the crank, then turn the crank 180 degrees, repeat the same action, you may use a crank puller and a crank removal wrench in this process. If the crank will wobble, the crank fixing bolt should be tightened. The cranks of new bicycles are subject to this inspection frequently.

Hold the pedals and cranks firmly, and then push the pedals back and forth firmly. If there is a clicking sound, the balls are too loose and need to be readjusted. Then, turn the pedal, if there is a harsh sound or it is not easy to turn, it means that the ball is too tight. If clips are used, the clips should be inspected for cracks. Check that the toe clip’s straps are in good condition and that there are no grooves that could loosen the straps.
